Jenna Ortega to Star in Beetlejuice 2—It's a Fashion Match Made in Heaven

Jenna Ortega is cementing her status as Gen-Z scream queen. Fresh from projects like X, Scream series and Wednesday, The actor has landed her next horror role. She will be in Beetlejuice 2 come 2024, joining original cast members Michael Keaton and Winona Sequel to the film Ryder. Not much is known about the plot of the new installment, other than that Ortega will play Lydia Dietz (Ryder)’s daughter in it.

If you saw the first cult movie, you’ll remember Lydia with her dark gothic fashion sense – a vibe that’s so true to Ortega and her off-screen style It couldn’t be more perfect.

Since breaking into the mainstream with her role as the sly Wednesday Adams on Wednesday, Ortega is in Red Dressed in a just-right-creepy way on the carpet—a choice that worked for Lydia, too. Call it gloomy, but Ortega emerged with a clear aesthetic, one without any color or print. Although that doesn’t mean it’s boring to watch. For example, for the premiere of her hit Netflix show, she chose a black slip dress from Versace with a dramatic veil – spooky chic! At the SAG Awards, she wore a black leather strapless gown from Versace with a sexy slit.

More recently, at the Met Gala, Ortega was styled by Thom Browne in a slightly Victorian outfit with a corset, tiered skirt and white collared shirt . This gothic-yet-preppy aesthetic closely resembles Lydia’s wardrobe on screen—especially that iconic scene in which she floats in mid-air as Harry Belafonte’s ” “Cut the Line” dance while wearing a full tartan skirt and black blazer.

Now, does Ortega’s personal fashion taste have anything to do with her appearance in

Beetlejuice 2? Probably not – this can be attributed to her acting skills. But you can’t deny that her own aesthetic couldn’t be more right for the job. If costume designers need inspiration for a new role for Ortega, they should consider digging into the actor’s own closet as a mood board: She clearly has more than a few outfits she could wear.

Below, more of Ortega’s best Beetlejuice – worth a look.
