Jil Sander 2024 Resort Collection

Lucie and Luke Meier design both Jil Sander’s menswear and womenswear collections, so there is a permeable dialogue between the two that reflects the designer’s personal art-life dialogue. “As an overarching approach, both collections share the same artistic integrity,” they said.

For the resort, precision is undercut by manual flair and subtle decorative gestures. Drawing on her background in fashion design, Lucie brings gentle clarity to the label’s structured simplicity. She emphasizes the tactile qualities of textures—ribbed wool, delicate crochet, 3D embroidery of leopard-shaped chenille, cotton terry, and crisp recycled polyester. Details such as ruffles, handmade fringed lace intarsia, and feather-light balloon shapes all convey a light, feminine feel.

Silhouettes are either close to the body, or wide and short, emphasizing a certain freedom in proportion – play; lingerie-inspired white satin-trimmed lace short slip dress with sharp tailoring oversized boxy black blazer. Throughout the collection, boxy tailoring is contrasted with fluid, elongated silhouettes; it creates a vibrant masculine/feminine contrast, further enhanced by vibrant colours. Jewelry was embedded into garments, adding sharpness to Meyers’ sophisticated embellishing vocabulary—imperfectly shaped circular metal discs replaced buttons and were built into boxy jackets. Similarly, a sleek, sculptural gold necklace was integrated into the neckline of a slim jersey coat and could be removed to be worn with other items.
