Joel McHale to star in Fox comedy 'Animal Control'

Joel McHale is returning to his radio comedy roots.

Community favorite, who has returned as a character in Peacock’s upcoming film, has been chosen as Fox Main character of comedy)Animal Control.

Direct series stand-alone workplace comedy, set to premiere mid-season on the web, follows a group of local animal control workers whose lives are complicated by the simplicity of animals , but not in humans.

McHale will star as Frank, an opinionated, eccentric animal control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most knowledgeable man in the room. A former police officer, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he is so cynical and short-tempered. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals. Humans…not so much.

Animal Control is a major show for Fox as it is the first wholly-owned series for the independent network, From its recently launched Fox Entertainment Studio. Moody trio Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Tad Quill with Dan Sterling (Girls, The Office). McHale will also be seen as an executive producer.

“Dan, Rob, Ted and Bob envisioned Joel as the role of Animal Control which we started developing From that moment on, we were all ecstatic to have him on board. The role expanded McHale’s relationship with Fox, where he already hosted the reality show Crime Scene Kitchen. He can currently be seen in The CW’s Stargirl and will be in Peacock’s upcoming reprise the role of Jeff Wenger in the Community
