John Boyega is talking about the Star Wars universe and whether he would be interested in returning for another film.
His comments come years after he previously addressed the treatment of black characters in Star Wars Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker , and accused Disney of exploiting their cast and then pushing their characters to the side of the story.
“That was a few years ago, so they were the subject of that particular project,” Boyega recently told TechRadar in an interview conducted before the cast’s strike. “But I’m open to all interesting characters and scripts with a great cast and a great director. So yeah, I’m open to all opportunities.” The standout character of The Rise of Skywalker was “pushed aside”.
“You get yourself involved in projects, and you don’t necessarily like everything,” he said at the time . “[But] what I would say to Disney is, don’t launch a black character, sell them as more important in the franchise than they actually are, and then push them aside.
“You know how to treat these other guys, but when it comes to Kelly Marie Tran, when it comes to John Boyega, you fucking know it all,” he said. “They gave all the nuances to Adam Driver, all the nuances to Daisy Ridley. Honestly. Daisy knew it. Adam knew it. Everyone knew it. I’m not going to expose anything.” overall experience in Star Wars , noting that he is now “comfortable” with his character Finn.
“To me, Star Wars made this man in a way,” he said. “The experiences, the funny times, the good times, the ugly times, the bad times, when you’re navigating this industry it makes you who you are and it’s definitely fun.”
