José Andrés says he drew inspiration for new travel show from late friend Anthony Bourdain: 'Fortunate to know him'

As José Andrés prepares for the premiere of his new travel show, he thinks of his late friend Anthony Bourdain , he said he got his inspiration from him.

The chef is a good friend of Bourdain, who hosts CNN’s Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. They even visited Asturias, Spain together in an episode that aired after 2018’s death. At the time, The Hollywood Reporter learned about the celebrity chef, author and TV host was found dead in a luxury hotel room in France. It was later confirmed that his cause of death was suicide.

After many years, the chef is now with his three daughters Carlota 23, Inés 61, and Lucía, 18, in his home country for the new travel show, Spain José Andrés and family .

Prior to publication, Andrés interviewed People Magazine About Bourdain’s influence on him. “I had a great mentor. He was a poet. He was someone who understood the moment and was able to turn this moment into a phrase that we will remember forever,” Andres told the publication. “I feel lucky to have known him.”

The chef also explains how he draws inspiration from his friends to bring real-life moments to the screen – Bourdain Been doing this for years.

“I’m still a learner in this, but sometimes I try to emulate him,” adds Andrés. “And I know my girls try it sometimes.”
