The Saints told reporters that Diego Padres outfielder Juan Soto will miss Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians due to tension at left center back. Sotto acquired by San Diego at 2022 MLB trade deadline in blockbuster deal with Washington Nationals . The Padres also signed veteran first baseman Josh Bell and sent a slew of prospects to Washington to close the deal. Runner-up For the 2021 National League MVP, Soto has played after a slow start A solid season. The 23-year-old is hitting 0.252 homers and 50 RBIs this season and is hitting 0.286 at-bats in 18 games with San Diego.

Soto is one of the brightest young stars in Major League Baseball. He hasn’t dropped below .280 in any of his first four seasons in the majors. He was also a key member of Washington’s 2019 World Series victory, hitting 34 homers in 110 runs.

After landing with the Padres, Soto is now with star third baseman Manny Machado and Shortstop Fernando Tatis is part of the “Big Three” together. However, Tatis was suspended 80 games last week for violating MLB’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

Utility outfielder Will Myers will see more time in the lineup when Soto is out. At 68-56, San Diego is mathematically tied with the Philadelphia Phillies (67-55) for the second wild-card spot in the NL on Tuesday. The Padres hope that Soto will be back soon to keep up with the playoffs.
