Judge: Offseason possible surgery on injured toe
NEW YORK – YANKES Outfielder Aaron Judge hasn’t ruled out surgery on his sprained right big toe — though if that happens, the All-Star slugger said Tuesday, it won’t happen during the season.
“have There was talk of surgery, but I don’t think we’re at that point yet,” the judge said. “I’m not a doctor. I don’t know. They throw out eight different things.”
Judge was torn June 3 at Dodger Stadium when he hit the right field wall on a standout catch and tore the ligament in his toe. He has made some progress in the IL game, making some light hits on catches, drives and somersaults. But Judge hasn’t done any major runs yet and wants to make sure he can put all the 94 pounds on while running Hit on one leg.
“I feel It’s good, but not great. We’re almost there,” Judge said. “I^must be able to run. If I can run, then I can play. I will % speed run [wouldn’t] help anyone out there.
“Once we have strengthened and endured Get the pain and all of that out of there and we’ll be in a good place. I know you’re going to have to deal with some of the pain of coming back, so it’s just getting to a tolerable level, we’re not going to bring ourselves back here. “
The judge added that he was not sure Will go to Seattle next week for all star game festivities. He said it’s best to stay behind and continue to rehab the toe.
“If we’re not close, maybe we’ll focus on doing some rehab work,” Judge said. “Maybe it’s best to stay and do some work, so I have no idea. [I’m] just a few more people out there who can talk about it, talk to trainers and doctors, and see where we are. “
