The Seattle Mariners are working to seal a big $210 million contract for rookie Julio Rodriguez, according to Bob Nightengale of America revealed today. Seattle could end up paying Rodriguez as much as $450 million. The contract looks big on the surface, but considering the annual value, it’s actually a steal for Seattle.
Julio Rodriguez’s new contract guarantees him $210 million over 14 years, possibly worth $450 for at least 20 years, with club and player options.

If the Mariners decline Rodriguez’s option, then he The player option can be declined to become a free agent entering the 30-year-old season.
