Kendall Jenner Shares Her Love of Fall Fashion and Horses

Horse girls unite! Designer and famous animal lover Stella McCartney has tapped lifelong equestrian Kendall Jenner for her latest campaign, which they shot on French director and equine whisperer Jean-François Pignon’s property. The campaign, captured by Harley Weir, features Jenner lying bareback (in both senses) on one of Pignon’s horses wearing only thigh high boots and carrying a matching purse.

“Being able to witness and work with Jean-François and his horses was incredible. I’ve never been that intimate with horses that are trained this way. Such a memorable experience for me,” Jenner tells Vogue. Jenner—who previously told Andy Cohen that, were she not a model, she would be an Olympic equestrian—took a moment at the end of the shoot to connect with the animals. “There was a shot we did at the end of the day where I was able to lay on the ground with a horse and it was so peaceful, so powerfully still,” she says.

While this is Jenner’s first time collaborating with McCartney professionally, it was really only a matter of time, given the duo’s shared passion for horses. (Per the brand, this is also McCartney’s most environmentally conscious winter ready-to-wear collection to date, and is comprised of 92 percent sustainable materials.) “She always looks far ahead into the future and identifies clear goals that we should strive for together,” Jenner says of the British designer.

The campaign also serves as great fall dressing inspiration for Jenner, who tells Vogue that she especially loved the all-red look from the campaign video, “as well as the vest and trouser moment.”

When it comes to her own autumnal wardrobe, Jenner is looking forward to getting cozy. “Chunky knits are always my favorite,” she says. “I feel like I wear boots all year round, so I would say they are perfect for any and every season.” But with the weather cooling down, the model and 818 Tequila founder—who always looks chic in neutrals—has found vintage jeans, boots, and a cozy sweater to be her go-to fall formula. And if she needs to step outside? “I love my long jackets,” she says. “Something about them just creates a fashion moment for me.”
