Undefeated welterweight Khamzat Chimaev (11-0) becomes UFC 279 press Saturday against veteran Nate Diaz (20-13) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Times billing game headlines.
This match could be Diaz’s last fight inside the famous Octagon. This is his final battle with his combat promotion contract. Chimayev is delighted to have the opportunity to face a “legend” like Diaz.
“I’m fighting Nate Diaz. I’m happy for it. He’s one of the guys who’s been in this game for 15 years. He’s one of the legends One. Maybe this is his last fight. Who knows? I’m happy,” Chimayev said at UFC 279 media day on Wednesday.
Whether his opponent is Diaz or anyone else, Chimayev has the same goal in mind. He plans to “smash” Diaz on Saturday.
“I’m going to smash someone to death, take my money, and go home,” Chimaev said. “I have to go and take his head off, as I’ve been trying to do. I’m here to crush a man and take his head.”
