Khamzat: Diaz 'must thank God he didn't fight me' at UFC 279

Khamzat Chimaev says Nate Diaz should count as his lucky star as their welterweight bout headlines UFC 279 cancelled due to missing former weight.

Khamzat goes on to take on Kevin Holland at 180 pounds, while Diaz takes on Tony Ferguson in the UFC 279 Main Event. The former overwhelmed Holland in the first round, while the latter caught Ferguson by submission in the fourth round. If their fight goes as planned, he’ll kill Diaz.

“Kevin Holland, tough guy, stronger guy, much stronger than Diaz,” Chimayev said after UFC 279 Press conference (h/t Sherdog). “If Diaz fought him, Holland would kill him. I finished that guy in the first round, easy.

” So, Yes, Diaz has to thank God he didn’t fight me. “

“You see how they kick, fight, wrestle, and fight?” These people are old,” he added. “I’m still young and I’m the killer. “

As for what happens next, Chimayev still thinks he deserves his next title at welterweight despite Friday’s weight loss Lost more than 7 pounds.

“Who are they going to give it to? who is the next? Everybody loses this fight,” Khamzat said. “Colby [Covington] lost two or three games in a row. [Jorge] Masvidal lost, when was the last time he won? against Diaz. Did you see Diaz fight? terrible. “

Chimayev is undefeated 6-0 in the UFC and is currently third in the UFC welterweight rankings. He is considered one of the most talented fighters in the promotion and believes he is destined to become a two division champion.
