No one has created a fashion era quite like Kim Kardashian. The reality star and beauty mogul has experimented with many different looks over the years – long-term obsessed with a particular designer or aesthetic. She has gone through phases of wearing almost one brand: she was once a Balmain muse, once a Jean Paul Gaultier fan and more recently a Balenciaga stalwart. But her new fashion catchphrase is 1970? It’s all about rockin’ vintage t-shirts.
Over the past few months, Kardashian has been spotted wearing rare merchandise. Just last night in LA, Kardashian wore an ab “Social Distortion” T-shirt to daughter North West’s basketball game. Who would have guessed she was a fan of the 1970 American punk rock band? For more Kim style, she mixed it with denim sweatpants (yes, really!) and giant shield sunglasses.

This latest look continues her love of merch. Back in December, Kardashian attended Art Basel in Miami, wearing a vintage blue Bjork T-shirt and leather pants. She took the same styling approach last month when she donned a Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg 1970 “Up in Smoke” tour shirt. T-shirts from the latter’s tour can be had for as much as $1 on Grailed, 90. Could rare vintage T-shirts replace Kardashian’s obsession with one-of-a-kind collectible designer pieces?
