Saturday’s coronation of King Charles III had all sorts of weird ceremonies and moments, but perhaps one of the strangest was revealed on Sunday night when the The new British monarch and his wife, Queen Camilla, appear on American Idol.
In a pre-recorded segment,
Lionel Richie and Katy Perry calls into the latest episode of Idol to explain their absence Performed at The Coronation Concert in London on Sunday to celebrate Charles’ accession to the throne . Richie and Perry appear to be in a large room inside while talking to Idol host Ryan Seacrest Windsor Castle, venue for the concert.
Charles and Camilla then walk into the camera and ask, rather awkwardly, when Richie and Perry will run out of the room they’re filming the segment in.
