The New York Mets placed infielder Luis Guillom on the injured list on Monday due to a strained groin. Guillom is expected to miss at least three to four weeks, pushing his schedule closer to the end of the regular season. (The Mets will play their final game on October 5.)

Guillorme, who will be celebrating his 28th birthday in September, has been on the Mets’ lineup nearly every day this month, while Eduardo Escobar deals with a tight oblique. Known for being a talented guard, Guillorme is averaging 0.283 /.355/.357 (104 OPS+) in 86 games this season. According to MLB.com, the Mets will use infielder Devin Mare Luo replaces Guillaume on the list. The Mets decided not to promote top prospects Brett Batty or Marc Vintos to fill the roster hole. “Conversation started this morning. We thought about everything. I won’t Take two or three Zoom calls. … We’ll see where we go over the next few days,” manager Buck Showalter said, according to Mike Puma. Barty enters the spring split and was named the 14th best rookie in the future by CBS Sports adults. He’s hitting .315/.410/.533 in 95 double- and triple-A games this season. The Mets will start their key four-game series against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night. The Mets entered the day with a 75-40 record on the season, giving them a 5 1/2 lead over the Warriors. Winning or sweeping four games would go a long way to cement the National League East as their loss.
