Lionsgate is remaking The Stranger , with Madelaine Petsch starring and Renny Harlin directing.
Gabe Basso and Froy Gutierrez will co-star in what will be a trilogy filmed in Bratislava, Slovakia. Based on the original 2008 psychological thriller of the same name starring Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler and directed by Brian Bertino, the reboot will see Paige will play the role of driving an off-road vehicle. Starting a new life in the Pacific Northwest with her longtime boyfriend (Gutierrez).
When their car breaks down in Oregon, they are forced to spend the night in a secluded Airbnb, where they are surrounded by three masked strangers from dusk to dawn intimidate. Harlem is directing the script by Alan Cohen and Alan Friedland. Lionsgate will distribute globally.
“When we started the remake of The Stranger , we felt like there was a bigger story to tell, It can be as powerful, creepy and terrifying as the original, and can truly expand the world,” producer Courtney Solomon said in a statement. The Strangers reboot was produced by Solomon, Mark Canton, Christopher Milburn, Gary Raskin, Charlie Dombek and Alastair Burlingham.
