PARIS – Manon Fiorot faced an odd shuffle of opponents in the upcoming tournament, but she’s happy with the end result.
The rising UFC women’s flyweight contender was scheduled to take on former title challenger Katlyn Chookagian at UFC Fight Night 209 on Saturday. However, Chookagian (18-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) was forced out and replaced by former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade. Then, just weeks after that game was announced, Andrade pulled out with an injury and Chookagian returned. -0 UFC) injured himself, forcing the fight against Chookagian to be pushed to UFC 280 on October 22. .
“There’s a lot of back and forth, but I really don’t know why they’re changing opponents,” Fiorote told reporters during his UFC Fight Night 209 cameo at Media Day. “I think Katlyn is a more interesting option for me because she’s number one. (But) it’s okay. I’m always ready for who it is, so I’m fine.”
Fiorot respects what Chookagian has done in the department, but she is not afraid to express her intentions. The French woman wanted to stop the Chookagian and made a statement at 125 pounds.
“My goal is to finish this fight,” Fiorot said. “I think the first round is just to study my opponents, and then I will speed up the second and third rounds. We have a game plan in place to end this fight.”
