Okada is writing and directing the film, MAPPA originally Announced on. Okada is also credited as the original. Okada also wrote a novel for the film, Kadokawa Bunko released in June . Hiramatsu Masaaki is the assistant director, Yuriko Ishii (, ) is in charge of character design and serves as chief animation director.
Kazuki Higashiji (, , ) is in charge of art direction. All of the aforementioned animators collaborated on Okada’s film.

singer-songwriter Miyuki Nakajima is singing the theme of the movie Song “Shin-on” (heartbeat). This is the first time the veteran singer has sung the theme song for any anime or game. (Nakajima’s songs have appeared on other anime’s soundtracks, and she’s written songs for other artists.) Last fall, Okada personally asked Nakajima for the theme song. At first, Nakajima was puzzled by the request, since she didn’t know much about anime or games. However, Nakajima was persuaded after reading Okada’s script and composed the song specifically for the film.
