When it comes to Mariah Carey’s style, there are always two One word comes to mind: the ultimate charm. The singer created her own unique look, defined by her body-hugging sequined gown and jaw-dropping diamonds. She even joked once that she’s allergic to fluorescent lights – That’s

: Thanks for chatting on this gloomy rainy day! You are in New York ?
Mariah Carey:
I am. Usually I’m still sleeping so I just find out it’s raining. I really like New York in the rain. I know it sounds like standard lyrics or something. But I do. This Not Paris in the rain, different vibe, but I still love it.
First of all, please tell me how the collaboration with Chopard came about.
I met Caroline [Chopard President Schaefer] a few years ago and she was the funniest, most festive person ever. And then, like Like a person, I was celebrating Christmas and after – it’s been a month – I noticed a gift in my Under the tree that hasn’t opened yet. It’s Chopard’s: it’s a beautiful silk scarf with a butterfly pattern on it, and Caroline’s handwritten note. At that moment, I Super excited because one of my songs is going to diamonds and I really want to work with a diamond company. When that happens, I just say, ‘Let me try it out and see if it’s interesting. That was two years ago, so I think they’ll want to do something for Christmas; I’m suggesting [designing] snowflakes. But she said, “No, we want les papillons – we want butterflies all year long!”

When we first called, Caroline started sketching this gorgeous butterfly necklace, which remains my most memorable moment of this collaboration. Because of my album Butterfl
y, the butterfly symbol became synonymous with me and my fans. With earrings, I also love that one wing is on one side and the other on the other, and it drips diamonds. With the Happy Butterfly collection, you can do it all [however]. For me, it’s paired with jeans and a white shirt – like you can see in the photo of me and my dog.
He is so cute!
That’s my dog, Mutley. He made a cameo. That bracelet is gold and I think people would stack it. I was like, “I need a few — we’re going to stack this!”

Collaboration came at just the right time, for your album
Butterfly
celebrate its – This year’s anniversary. What does this album mean to you now?
This is really the fan favorite of all my albums. I mean, it’s debatable – people also love The Emancipation of Mimi
. These are two different moments of freedom and liberation. Butterfly represents an era in my life that I had to quit. I got into the music business as a teenager -year-old girl, and then in a very suffocating and very difficult situation, I had to evolve and gain strength to realize that I had to get rid of it. When I was working on the Butterfly album, I used it as a metaphor for flying and freedom and making that type of music I wanted to do. There’s a lot of criticism from people who obviously aren’t t listen to the same music I’m listening to. They were like, “Why did she want to be a hip-hop artist?” The corporate morgue, as I said, didn’t get it. But for my die-hard fans, this album represents more than “she’s doing a hip-hop record with a rapper.” This is a very important album in terms of my life plan. Looking back, my whole life really went into that album. If I don’t have No That, I don’t have ; Not sure if I’ll be able to leave my situation in.
