Mark Cuban at least interested in the idea of the NBA hosting an in-season tournament.

After the video aired, Cuban spoke with NBA reporter Marc Stein, saying he was “actually right” about the season The concept of the championship is open because “it has an opportunity to build interest in the sport”.

According to sources, the current frame of the NBA season championship as soon as 2023-24:
– Cup until November
– 8 teams advance to single-elimination finals in December; other 22 continue regular season
– All matches are part of the normal 82-game schedule; two finalists will add one point
NBA commissioner Adam Silver has been talking about the possibility of an in-season tournament for years .
In a February interview with Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Silver said that according to Speaking with the National Basketball Players Association, he believes the game is “closer and closer” to happening.
“And I feel like there’s quite a bit of interest,” he added.
Charania noted that the NBA and NBPA are still working on finalizing the concept of the tournament, including awarding prizes for the eight teams that advance to the single-elimination round.

The NBA has done a great job of expanding the playoffs with playoffs in recent years. Although these games don’t technically count as playoff games, their sense of urgency increases due to the “win-or-go home” nature of the games.
Trying to figure out a way to make in-season tournaments important to the team seems to make it feel like The biggest hurdle to a big thing, and something that all 30 clubs want to be a part of.
