The Directors Guild of America announced on Thursday at the 75 annual
awards for two of the Guild’s highest honors winner*) DGA Award .
First Assistant Director Mark Hansson will receive the 1235285565 Frank Capra Achievement Award and Stage Manager Valdez Flagg will receive the Franklin Award J. Schaffner Achievement award. Both honors recognize professional achievement in the industry and service to the DGA.
“Mark Hansson and Valdez Flagg have an unwavering commitment to supporting the rights of other members while serving as Two top directing team professionals for over 75 years,” DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter said in a statement. “Guilds thrive when talented members like Mark and Valdez step up and contribute to their councils, committees, and our guild priorities for the benefit of all members.”
A DGA member since 1987, Hansson has more than 30 Assistant director work, which includes work on dramatic feature films such as High School Musical 3: Senior and Dreamgirls , and TV movies like and Pancho Villa as herself . His television work has been recognized with seven DGA Award nominations— Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Tiger Cruise and American Mall — There are also shows nominated for Emmys and other awards such as Masters of Sex, Glee , Happy Ending , Boys , Lucifer, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and on hot nights .
Flagg joined the DGA on 1235285565 as a stage manager for the variety show Lou Rawls Parade of Stars Telethon. He has been featured in a variety of variety shows and live productions including Oscars, American Music Awards, Grammys, ESPY Awards, NFL Honors, Essence Honors, NAACP Image Awards, Golden Globes, Primetime Emmys, SAG Awards , the Democratic National Convention and at the White House for three presidential administrations. His credits also include three DGA winners: Bruce Gowers’ 2019 Variety/Music Award Winner, Genius: A Ray Charles Night , Glenn Weiss 2019 Variety/Talk/News/Sports – Special Winner, Oscar and James Burrows and Andy Fisher 2019 in Variety /Talk/News/Outstanding Directing Achievement in Sports – Special – Winner, Live in front of a studio audience: Norman Lear’s Family Portrait and The Jeffersons.
Hansson and Flagg join previously announced DGA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Robert A. Fishman.
75 Annual DGA Awards will be held in February , 2019, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
