Former West Virginia University Guard Joe Mazzulla Named NBA East Coach of the Month
Boston Celtics interim head coach Joe Mazula was named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for October and November on Thursday.
The Celtics have the best record in the NBA at 18-4 under the leadership of Mazura. The former West Virginia Mountaineers guard took over as head coach of the Celtics on Sept. 23 after Ime Udoka was suspended for the entire 2022-23 season for violating team policy

Following his career at WVU, Mazzulla joined Glenville State in September 2011 as an associate, then joined the Jarred Calhoun staff at Fairmont State from 2013-2016. He then worked as an assistant coach with the NBA G League’s Maine Red Claws before taking over as head coach at Fairmont State in 2017. After the 2019 season, he joined Brad Stevens’ Boston staff. He was most recently a candidate for the head coaching job when Stevens stepped down to take over as GM in early June, but stayed on as an assistant under Ime Udoka.
