Meet the Vintage Entrepreneurs, Stylists, and Internet Personalities Who Are Changing Street Style in 2023

Can you describe your personal style and some of your style influences?

Cecilie Moosgard: I think our style is very classic and timeless. I’ll often say that it’s kind of boring because we really stick to the basics and pieces that we wear over and over again. We try to not be influenced by trends and will always opt for the classic styles that we feel comfortable in.

But I also think that we are very minimalistic in a sense. Maybe it’s the Scandinavian style, but we like a lot of black and white, and very classic pieces like a good knit t-shirt and a great pair of denim jeans.

Amalie Moosgaard: What we wear doesn’t have to be luxury, some of the best pieces we have are just H&M shirts. Good basics can be from high street or local Danish brands, and they can last for seasons. I think a big part of our uniform is that we like to mend our clothes. We recently sent our jeans back to our grandmother in the countryside to mend them, and it’s the same with our boots, every year we take them to the cobblers for a new polish and new soul. I think this is a very big part of being timeless and clean and having a classic style.

What is the oldest piece in your closet and what is your favorite way to style it?

AM: The oldest piece I have is a pair of Manolo Carolyne kitten heels and I think they’re perfect. I just put on a good jean, a shirt, and then I put the shoes on and look put-together. They have a special place in my heart, and I don’t want to ever get rid of them, even if they may need some love and care.

CM: We also share an old Ralph Lauren tweed men’s jacket that we found on the streets of New York years ago. It’s at my place right now. We also both have some cashmere turtlenecks that we’ve worn for years now and they don’t pill, which is amazing. Those are hard to find!

Where is your favorite place to shop IRL and online for vintage pieces?

CM: Online, I always go to Vestiare or TheRealReal. In the real world, I feel like we are really bad at it. We’ve made some really good finds here and there, but we don’t have the patience for it always. It takes a lot of patience going through all those great places. I’m always envious of my colleagues who are so good at it and have good finds.
