Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made an appearance yesterday at Kevin Costner’s One805 Live! concert in Santa Barbara, California, which aimed to raise funds for first responders. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were on hand to present Costner with a special award for his work with the charity. To hand the actor his accolade, Markle looked polished and fall-ready in her chic attire. It was her choice of coat—a modern take on a classic style—that was the outfit’s focal point. (She knows a thing or two about great coats, after all.)
Markle selected a herringbone cape coat, which had a poncho-like construction and high collar. It’s a fresh take on a classic wool topper, complete with a slightly more billowy and effortless silhouette (the black wrap-tie at the waist, though, gave it some shape). She let the statement coat shine on its own, with a pair of dressy black trousers worn underneath. Her gold Cartier Tank watch, though, helped make the ensemble feel elegant overall. It goes to show that a subtle update on a silhouette can give your classic coat a whole new feel for fall. Plus, now that cozy season is starting, there’s no better time than to think about investing in one. All she needs is a warm pumpkin spiced latte to go with it.
