Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps Hosted Dôen’s Disco-Themed Planned Parenthood Fundraising Dinner

“Spaghetti disco-themed dinner party,” the invitation for Dôen’s annual fundraising soiree in partnership with Planned Parenthood read, and for the record, it was a night that fully lived up to its promise. The Californian brand, known since 2016 for designing the breezy, easy-going dresses donned by most attendees of the evening, hosted the night at La Dolce Vita, a cozy, ’60s-era, Frank Sinatra-backed Italian restaurant that re-opened in March after a 2020 close.

Supporters of the Margaret and Katherine Kleveland sister duo-led brand, including hosts Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams, gathered at the Beverly Hills restaurant for the non-formal dinner party wherein food was floated around in small bites. Some packed themselves into the snug booth for a couple of hours of conversation with friends (or strangers that quickly felt like friends), while others sashayed throughout the restaurant, which essentially became a dancefloor in its entirety for the night.

Of course, there are parties for the sake of parties, but for Dôen, the night was about shedding light on the work of Planned Parenthood, inviting Philipps and Williams to host as both have long supported the organization. Philipps even opened her speech by sharing Planned Parenthood’s role in her life at 15 years old. “Part of what’s incredible about having a platform is the ability to use it for the greater good, and in this case, reproductive justice and reproductive rights for everyone regardless of their socioeconomic status, or their location, or the state that they happen to live in, is something that is vital and important to both my friend [Williams] and myself,” the actor later told Vogue and other press in attendance. “Quite frankly, I’m always shocked that people don’t speak up for things that seem so universal.”

Throughout the evening, guests were encouraged to donate via a silent auction, and there were impromptu sing-a-longs to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” and Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do Is Have Some Fun,” and it was yet another Dôen event that truly cemented what the brand’s women-led community is all about.
