The miniskirt has dominated our style consciousness for a few seasons, but designers have begun to move away from the bound skirt. While most of the fashion show was pristine – which meant the least amount of skirt dirt was picked up along the way – Balenciaga was shown in a doomsday mud pit . You can guess what dark wash denim pants look like after the finale.
As long as you avoid muddy terrain, you can embrace longs as much as you want, like the ultra-high-waisted maxi dresses from Burberry and distressed busts from MM6 Maison Margiela and GCDS skirt. The shoots for Masha Popova and Stefan Cooke also called for clean floors—the former showed iterations of low-waisted ruffles, while the latter featured textured, gender-neutral styles that were paired with hoodies, knits, and jackets.

As the models showed on the runway, denim trousers offered endless styling opportunities. Street stylists were clearly inspired by what they saw on the runway. Scandi influencer Pernille Teisbaek has been wearing maxi dresses nonstop this year, including styles from Ganni — she wore an open-back top — as well as an acid-wash version of a Chanel tweed jacket she wore this recent spring 869 programme.

Emili Sindlev and Caro Daur also packed their best denim for the show, each wearing Ganni’s double denim (same skirt as Pernille) and treated oxblood trousers from Acne Studios. As for Cao Youyou? She’s also a fan of Acne Studios’ DIY denim products, wearing a patchwork maxi dress in Paris.
