MLB trade rumors: Diamondbacks looking to trade Madison Bumgarner in spring training

The Arizona Diamondbacks are reportedly hoping to part ways with southpaw Madison Bumgarner before the 2023 season, according to USA TODAY Bob Nightengale.

“The Diamondbacks will put struggling veteran Madison Boom Garner brought to spring training hoping he can shoot well enough to trade him,” Nightengale wrote. “He owes $37 million over the next two seasons, and the D-backs will probably have to eat most of that.” Bumgarner, the three-time World Series champion, is undoubtedly past his prime, which has been on full display throughout the 2022 campaign, where he has been in Arizona for the third straight season. struggling.

The 33-year-old started 30 times this season, going 7-15 with 4.88 runs in 158.2 innings ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 112 strikeouts. Diamondbacks manager Tori Lovolo then announced on Sept. 25 that the veteran would be suspended for the season.

With two seasons remaining on his contract, the Diamondbacks hope they can offload Bumgarner and Get something in return, whether it’s a final-round pick or a minor league player.
