The Victoria’s Secret revival is well underway. Last night in New York City, the iconic lingerie brand held a star-studded bash in anticipation of its upcoming, newly revamped show. On September 26, the label will debut The Tour ’23 on Prime Video, a new documentary-style film–slash–fashion show. In attendance at the soirée were supermodels such as Adriana Lima, Gigi Hadid, and Naomi Campbell, as well as fresh faces Alex Consani and Devyn Garcia—all of whom will make cameos in the new TV special. “I am super-happy that I get to be a part of this,” Garcia tells Vogue. “At first, I was a bit nervous about how Victoria’s Secret was going to make another show work, but being behind the scenes of everything, it’s so different from anything they’ve done.”
Originally from Miami, Garcia has established herself as a booked-and-busy model. She’s walked for Alexander McQueen, Jacquemus, Fear of God, and many others. But she admits that modeling for Victoria’s Secret has proven to be a whole new experience for her—not to mention a total bucket-list job. “My favorite part of the experience was filming in Barcelona,” says Garcia. “It really felt like a movie set with so many moving parts—lots of waiting, filming, and people pulling you around set.” While she can’t share much about what to expect from the film itself, she teases, “I really feel like they are trying to do something different, and with the times, now.”
Last night in New York, Garcia kept the momentum going by walking her first-ever red carpet. “I was trying to figure out how to pose with the skirt and where to put my hands,” says Garcia. “I just kept thinking, what would Zendaya do?” Garcia didn’t disappoint in her custom Victoria’s Secret look, which consisted of a sheer black minidress with a corseted bodice and full skirt. “I felt like those ballerinas in a jewelry box, and a bit like the ladies back in the day with the big cage skirts,” says Garcia. “My favorite detail of the outfit was the corset. I have a tiny waist compared to my hips, so I really like to show that off when I can. Wearing a corset that was pinching my waist was really my style.”
The model’s favorite part of the evening—aside from playing dress up—was reconnecting with some of her fellow model costars, including Akon Changkou. “I’m happy I got to be with all the other models that were a part of the show,” says Garcia. “My other favorite part was getting to watch a snippet of The Tour! I have to say I was really blown away with how it has all come out—the film is super-dope.” Next, Garcia is heading to the European shows, where you can spot her on the catwalk. But she says couldn’t have asked for a better start to fashion month. “What a dope way to kick off NYFW—wearing a custom VS look and walking a red carpet. What?”
