OAKLAND — Thursday night marked the official start of the football season as the Bills beat the defending champion Rams 31-10 to kick off Week 1 of the NFL.

The White Sox on Thursday night Played under different lights, but in the spirit of the season, they scored a goal in a 14-2 victory over the A’s.

Chicago ace Dylan Seth will The A’s shut out more than six innings, scattered five runners and struck out nine to secure a streak of more than 200 strikeouts for the season. He now has 206 strikeouts this season, third in the majors.

The lineup provides plenty of firepower in return , broke out with 21 hits in an unbalanced win.

“This is huge,” Cease Say. “We know now that every game, every inning, every pitch counts. So it’s important to get out there and make a statement, both on the pitch and offense.”

But it was an extraordinary night, a bad bat Really got the Red Sox over the top.

Yoán Moncada at the board, 5 for 6 In, there were two home runs, one double and five RBIs. His five hits tied a career high on June 15 in Detroit.

“It feels good,” Monka Dar said through team translator Billy Russo. “It definitely boosts your expectations and confidence. … It’s been a tough season, but it’s good to be able to perform well in the closing stages.”

Moncada’s breakout came during a dismal period in the second half as he scored .177 in two games /.280/.274 34 home runs after the All-Star break.

Even so, this season didn’t show Monka Da and the White Sox’s vision. The 27-year-old has a 65 OPS+ in 82 games this season — meaning he’s playing 35% below the league average. That stat is down significantly from his 116 OPS+ in 2021, and nearly 30 points below his season-low mark.

So, for Moncada It feels extra satisfying to record one of the most productive games of his career in this game. He now has two multi-hit games since returning from the injured list on Sept. 5, and his bat heating up will be a welcome sign for the White Sox.

“He’s always been aggressive. He’s waving it,” said acting manager Miguel Cairo. “And I’m glad it’s happening now, when it matters. He’s doing a really good job.”

Moncada’s five-hit burst may be the lead, but the White Sox’s offense is one of their best in the 2022 campaign. Chicago’s 21 hits was a little less than the team’s 22 this season, but the team set a different pair of single-game batting highs in the 2022 campaign :

• Five home runs broke the previous three highs (completed Nine times, the last time was against the Twins on September 3)

• Ten extra hits (five doubles, five homers) over the previous eight-game high (two, last on June 28 against the Angels)

Every White Sox starter has at least Hit one, six of whom had multiple at-bats — including rookie second baseman Romy Gonzalez, who scored in his first four games — to the majors.

” Nice to see those bats, ‘ Cairo said. “Moncada, Gonzo – everyone is good at batting. It’s great to have a skewed number in there today.”

Momentum comes just in time for the White Sox, who are still tied for second with the Twins in the AL Central, but now only 1 1/2 games behind the Guardians in first place.

Just 9 days ago, the White Sox The team is at the tail end of a five-game losing streak and six behind the division lead. They’re 7-3 in their past 10 games to close the gap. By comparison, the Twins and Guardians were 4-6 and 3-7, respectively, during that time.

With this momentum, the White Sox There is a new energy in the club, and they hope to ride all the way to the playoffs.

“That’s good,” Monka Da said. “Different, I think. As the final stage comes, everyone is doing their best. Everyone is having a good time. Everyone is relaxing. It also helps when the results are in our favor.”
