The nine-show renewal continues earlier than usual, which could serve as a hedge against a possible Hollywood union strike later this year. Renewed scripted series could keep the writers’ room open and possibly in the Writers Guild (whose current contracts end on May 1), SAG-AFTRA and the Directors Guild (both end in June Production may continue until shutdown ). Any episodes stockpiled ahead of a potential strike would allow the network to offer at least some scripted programming in the fall.
