This The franchise has been pretty extensive since 300. Including mainline games and spin-offs, the franchise has released more than a dozen titles in a variety of genres, from online card games to side-scrolling action games to hack-and-slash games with rhythmic elements. There’s even an anime adaptation in 2013, it’s a pretty good show for both fans of the series and those who aren’t. I’m a passive fan of the franchise, and while I haven’t played even half of the installments, I can live with the reception many of these games receive. Neptunia: Sister VS Sister
Technically another spin-off game, but how does it fare?
Neptune: Sister VS Sister is an action role-playing game where you play as our colorful As a character, visit important dungeons or side areas to level up and improve your abilities. You have a three-person team system, and you can switch between each character in real time, and even perform combo attacks based on button prompts that appear during battle. As you level up your abilities, you gain access to more abilities, new equipment, and even new companions you can use in any way you want. Almost every character is assigned a designated class, such as swordsman, magician, gunner, etc.
By modern RPG standards, this game can’t deny doing anything new or extravagant to differentiate itself from others on the market Similar games. What sets this game apart is its art style and color palette. I noticed Neptune The franchise has tried really hard to go with bright pastel colors and have an overall cute anime girl aesthetic. Even a lot of enemies seem almost innocent at times given their design, but at least it’s never so outrageous that I feel bad for killing them. I found the color palette very refreshing and really liked the character designs. The characters in this world take a lot of inspiration from the PC and computer aesthetics. We’ve added cute little icons and accessories to each character that you’ll find associated with the computer, and I love how that design philosophy evolves when the character changes form for a battle finisher.
I also like the many two-dimensional sequences where the characters talk or expound on the story. The character models are drawn very well, with a slight motion tween, giving them a rather subtle but striking presence. It’s not particularly complicated, just a step up in quality from the usual visual novel cutscenes we’ve seen in other games. Even the voice acting helps everything run smoothly, sounds solid Dubbing . Unfortunately, I can’t say much about the music. Whether it’s in combat or in cutscenes, it sounds like noise.
The game is gorgeous, using various particle effects to show off attacking and fighting abilities. During dungeons and battles, the game runs at a smooth frame rate in 3D. Unfortunately, I would mess up the demo a bit with the game’s lighting in the 3D part, because it would make the characters look too plastic, like dolls. This may not help as some 3D models are not rich in detail.
What holds the game back is its story, what it actually is, and how it’s told. Now, this is a spin off game from the mainline NeptuneFranchise. At times, the game seems to be torn between whether it wants to be a major fan of the franchise, or whether it also wants to open it up to those who have never played a Neptunia game. Fire up the game, and it throws you right into the hole without explaining too much who or what anyone is. However, once you get past a specific tutorial, the characters break down the fourth wall and try to engage real players in the context of the story. I think the game would have benefited more if there was some prologue explaining what a goddess is and what the overall structure of the world looks like before we get to the first cutscene. However, this may end up being superfluous, as the story is that the world changes after the main character has been asleep for two years.
On the one hand, this creates a great environment for exposition, as we learn things at the same rate as the main characters. However, because the game doesn’t build on the world before everything changed, it doesn’t necessarily feel like a lot is lost if you’re a new fan. It’s hard to recommend a beginner-level RPG that feels like it has a lot of informed history behind it, which is a shame, because I think the narrative progression of the story has a rather strong air of mystery. It does accentuate the whole idea of a character just holding himself back from saying something important until something else interrupts, but I’m really curious to see who some of these new characters are and how they tie into the bigger picture. But again, I might just feel that way because I have some past knowledge of the franchise.
This is weird because on the one hand, I can see the people who made this game Hard work, the game can stand out from other spin-offs through its presentation and structure. If you have been a fan of the original game or have been waiting for a solid addition to the spinoff library, this game might be right up your alley. Despite its simplicity, it’s a lot of fun and time to hone in on it. However, a few glaring elements make it a bit hard to recommend to anyone other than those fans.
