Netflix Animated Foundation partners with Black N' Animated for third set

Netflix The Animation Foundation program launched a year ago and is currently launching its third category of courses.

For each cohort, running for four months, the streamer works with different entertainment inclusion programs focused on specific historically excluded communities. The first iteration worked with Latinx on Animation and Exceptional Minds, while the second team earlier this year served veteran and Indigenous animators by working with Media and Entertainment and Illuminative’s Veterans, respectively.

This time, the program has utilized Black N’ Animated to recruit participants. Selected members of the Los Angeles organization will be invited to apply directly, while others interested in this fall’s cohort can contact Black N’ Animated for consideration.

During the program, approximately 50 early career animators will receive instruction focusing on art and visual development, storyboarding, CG/VFX, writing and production Management, and career guidance for creating professional portfolios, writing samples or CVs, preparing them for applications for internships, apprenticeships or entry-level animation jobs. The first cohort has 19 students and 19 mentors from Netflix animation studio, while the second cohort has 19 ) and22.

Inaugural session participants have interned at Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., DreamWorks, and Mattel at Fuse FX, Marvel Studios, Titmouse, Disney TV, Diamond Games, PPC, CBS Sports , NBC Universal and Pixelogic work.
