Netflix has set a date for In Her Hands Here’s Hillary and The first documentary Chelsea Clinton’s new production company HiddenLight Productions.
Documentary from Tamana Ayazi (Learning to Skateboard in a War Zone (if you’re a girl) ) and Marcel Mettelsiefen ( Watani: My Homeland) will be released worldwide in November at streaming giants and select theaters 16.
in her hands will be in worldwide Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9th.
In Her Hands tells the story of Zarifa Ghafari, who was in 2020 became a member of the first female mayor of Afghanistan and the youngest mayor ever. Filmed over a tumultuous two years, the film chronicles her personal battle for survival as her country disintegrates amid the rapid withdrawal of Western troops and the return of the Taliban to power. Faced with this new reality, Zarifa must make the toughest decision of her life.

Juan Camilo Cruz of production company Moondogs produced In Her Hands with Jonathan Schaerf of Propagate Productions. Filming began at 2020 when Zarifa was the mayor of Maidan Shahr, the capital of Maidan Wardak province in central Afghanistan. By August , the country’s capital, Kabul, fell to the Taliban and Afghanistan was plunged into a humanitarian crisis.
