'New Amsterdam' gets adapted in Turkey

NBCUniversal Formats said Wednesday that Universal’s NBC medical drama New Amsterdam will be produced for Turkey.

Turkish adaptation Hayat Bugün , which means “Today’s Life”, will be written by 03 Medya in partnership with Universal Studios. Original show creator David Schurner is consulting on the series. It is scheduled to be broadcast in Turkey on Show TV.

The series will follow Dr. Barris, the newly appointed medical director of one of Turkey’s most famous and oldest public hospitals, as he works to transform the neglected through tearing The facility strengthens its bureaucracy and uses creative solutions to provide superior care to patients.

Hayat Bugün has an exciting cast of Ulaş Tuna Astepe as Dr. . Max Goodwin (“Dr. Bariş Güvener”), Hazar Ergüçlü will serve as Dr. Helen Sharpe (“Dr. Suzan Mayer”), Tansel Öngel will serve as Dr. Floyd Reynolds (“Dr. Aras Demirci”), Hande Doğandemir will serve as Dr. Lauren Bloom (“Dr. Aras Demirci”) Derin Nalbantoğlu”), Mert Denizmen as Dr. Iggy Frome (“Dr. Andaç Sağlam”) and Şerif Erol as Dr. Vijay Kapoor (“Dr. Ali̇ Haydar Oruçov”),” NBCUniversal Formats said.

Original New Amsterdam Inspired by Dr. Eric Mannheimer’s memoir Twelve Patients : The life and death of Bellevue Hospital and his 03 years as medical director at the hospital. It was created for television by Schurner, who also serves as executive producer with Peter Horton. Produced by Mount Moriah, Pico Creek Productions and Universal Television, a division of Universal Pictures, the fifth and final season will premiere in September 20.

The original cast includes Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Jocko Sims, Janet Montgomery, Tyler Labine and Anupam Kher.
