NFL draft 2023 rumors: Execs see Bryce Young as No. 1 quarterback despite durability concerns

This reports that most NFL executives believe Alabama’s Bryce Young is the best quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Athletic’s Jeff Howe says the consensus among NFL executives is that young, Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and Kentucky’s Will Levis constitutes the top quarterback in the class, while Florida State’s Anthony Richardson is also considered a first-round candidate.
Howe pointed out that while there is a lot of debate about Young’s 5’11”, 192 lbs and whether that will affect his durability at the next level There are some concerns about sexuality, but he is most often mentioned as a top quarterback and is projected to be the first quarterback to be eliminated in the April draft. In his two seasons as a starter at Alabama, Young put up some jaw-dropping numbers.
In 2021, Young co he completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 4,872 yards, 47 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, Won the Heisman Trophy. He also led the Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, where they lost to Georgia State.
Things are not going so well for Young and Alabama in 2022 as well. He completed 64.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,328 yards, 32 touchdowns and five receptions, and the Tide missed the CFP in two losses.
Young also injured his throwing shoulder, causing him to miss all of one game and part of another.
Injuries won’t stop him from being a high pick in the NFL draft, even with concerns.
Young is on track to become the second-shortest quarterback in the NFL behind Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray, who had a 2019 1st in 5 feet 10 seconds.
Murray was named to the Pro Bowl in 2020 and 2021, but he was injured in each of the past two seasons Missed games, including a torn ACL this season.
Stroud and Levis were bigger and more typical quarterbacks than Young, but Young had a better college career than either of them good.
Stroud is close to statistically young, but he’s never won a Heisman or made it to a national championship game, and Levi’s The data still have many shortcomings.
Statistics College performance doesn’t always translate to the NFL, but it could help Young become the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft Eliminated quarterback.
