Professional American football team, the Houston Texans, has become the latest National Football League (NFL) team to accept Bitcoin as payment for its one-game kit. The club said it has made its first crypto sale after selling a suite to digital marketing agency EWR Digital.
The Single Game Suite is an exclusive football viewing space within the stadium, accommodating the few wanting access to unique perks such as food and beverages and a preferred matchday experience.
Houston Texans partner BitWallet
The development is with BitWallet, a US-based cryptocurrency platform. According to the announcement, the latter has become the official digital currency wallet of the Houston Texans.
BitWallet will facilitate crypto payments for game kits and convert earnings into club dollars. In addition to BTC, Texas fans may also be able to pay in other cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), as these assets are supported on the BitWallet platform.
John T. Perrone, CEO of the company, commented on the development, noting that “digital currency has become the primary means of payment, and by partnering with BitWallet, the Texans are leading the way in the NFL.”

NFL Team Adopted Cryptocurrency
Despite the Houston Texans claiming to be the first NFL team to accept crypto payments, Nashville-based rival Tennessee Titans announced in April that it had partnered with digital Asset fund UTXO Management has partnered to enable Bitcoin payments, allowing fans to use BTC to buy season tickets, game kits and sponsorships.
Meanwhile, in addition to the Texans and Titans, other NFL teams have also reached out to the cryptocurrency industry through exclusive partnerships and sponsorship deals.
In April, the Dallas Cowboys signed a sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency exchange and wallet provider BlockchainCom, making the exchange the exclusive digital asset partner and sponsor of the NFL team.
