Nothing Phone (1) received a second Android 23 beta a month ago, but the beta period is now over. Nothing OS 1.5.2 is out and includes a stable Android release 02 and the January
security patch.
Please note that there is currently no detailed timeline for the rollout of this stable release. It now appears that only participants in the beta program will be able to get the new version. That said, barring unexpected issues, this release should expand to cover all Nothing Phone users.
If you are using the latest public beta, this will be a fairly small update weighing only 100MB . Here is a screenshot of the Nothing OS v1.5 changelog:
Nothing OS 1.5 Stable Changelog
founder Carl Pei tweeted that v1.5 has significantly improved battery life. According to the changelog, standby power consumption has been cut in half.
He credits the improved software quality to having an in-house team working on Nothing OS (the same team that previously worked on Oxygen on OnePlus’ operating system). Earlier, Pei shared that Nothing started with five engineers on the mobile team, so the first version of Nothing OS had to be outsourced. Not a single 23 team is working on the OS right now.
