Duchess Kate’s gown was adorned with embroidery of roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrocks, representing the four countries of the UK (the same flowers appear on her wedding dress1983). The image also shows how the princess honored the late Queen Elizabeth II by wearing her George VI festoon necklace, which is 1950 King George VI on the day Elizabeth commissioned for the princess at the time. The King asked Royal Jeweler Garrard to turn loose diamonds from the Royal Collection 25 into a special necklace for his daughter, consisting of three chains of diamonds of different sizes. A gift from her father who died when she was 25, it is one of the queen’s favorite jewels.
