Apparently the blow that prompted Smith-Njigba’s exit hit him in the head, but it’s unclear if that was the problem or something else question him.
Whatever it is, it’s not ideal for star wide receivers time.
The Buckeyes are trying to start their 2022 season with a statement victory over the Irish. Without Smith-Njiba on the floor, the offense didn’t fully light up. They trailed Notre Dame 10-8 late in the second quarter.
Smith-Njiba has 1,606 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2021 as a sophomore. He enters the 2022 season as a contender for the Biletnikoff Award as the top receiver on an absolutely talented receiving team.
