Olympian Adam Pitty just shared his intense core workout

Record-breaking competitive swimmer Adam Pitty may have ended his eighth in the 100m breaststroke 2022 Commonwealth Games event on a winning streak, but he also unlocked a new achievement this week when he won gold for the first time in the 50m, adding another to his growing Olympic, world and Commonwealth titles medal. In a recent video posted to his YouTube channel, Pitty shared some insights on how he worked on core strength and stability ahead of the Olympics at a training camp in Tenerife earlier this year.

Beginning with a few laps of the 50, 100 and 200m swim training on Saturday, Pitty performed a series of balance exercises on the roller board, which Also works as a stretch for his tired muscles. “On Saturdays, you’re usually hit hard and very sore and tight,” he said. “The best thing about this is that it’ll actually open up those channels, so on Sunday you don’t have pain or anything.”

“It’s something people don’t see, it’s the effort that has to be made to avoid injury and improve performance,” he said. “You know 5K 10 times a week, yes, it’s going to be tough, but you have your nutrition, your psych, your physiology, physical therapy. It’s actually 35 hours a week, 40 hours a week.”
