What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with two Great mom-centric interview? First up is Elaine Welteroth, journalist, TV host, former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief, and longtime friend of Chioma, who has her first Baby was in Los Angeles last year. After much research and interviewing a group of doctors, Elaine decided to work with a midwife and opted for a home birth. She told us about the decision and the shocking statistics about black maternal health. After the birth of her son, Elaine started an Instagram Live series called MaterniTea to create a learning community for new moms. It returns for a second season this month. Next, I will talk to New York Times parenting columnist Jessica Grose on her book Scream Inside: The Unsustainability of American Motherhood , Mapping America The history of motherhood and how the system failed us. I’ll be celebrating my second Mother’s Day on Sunday and I’m still as scared as my son was when he was born in May so I’m glad I got any wisdom!
