In the latest trailer for Netflix live-action adaptation of One Piece
, Inaki Godoy and his crew embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
Based on the hit manga series created by Eiichiro Oda, this eight-episode show follows Godoy’s Monkey D. Luffy as he gathers his crew, finds a sailable ship, and sets off to hunt treasure across the high seas to become One Piece. Along the way, he and his crew must battle an unforgiving sea and dangerous opponents.
“This team, our team, can handle anything,” Godoy’s character can be heard saying in new action-packed footage released Friday.
Netflix also shared a letter from Oda on Twitter in which he shared his excitement for the upcoming live-action series and his appreciation for the cast and crew bringing his manga series to the small screen.
“It’s been fun to see the range of reactions to each post,” he wrote in part. “The fact that a live-action adaptation of One Piece
was conceived seven years ago is insane in itself! … The whole process of so many people coming together is a celebration in itself.” They’ll come from a place of love, so I plan to enjoy the comments!” 1997
