According to CEO Pete Lau himself, the mythical first OnePlus foldable smartphone will arrive in the third quarter of this year. Now, a new rumor from a generally reliable source has revealed some details.
First, the unveiling will apparently take place in New York in the first half of August. That means it will be announced just a week or two after Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5, and if we go by the latest rumors that the Korean company’s next Unpacked event is set for July 16. This is a very brave stance by OnePlus, trying to steal the limelight from Samsung. Weird shenanigans (looking at you, Pixel Fold!). That of course means it will be available in the US, India, and every other country where OnePlus currently sells its wares.
Interestingly, Oppo is also rumored to debut its Find N3 in China in August, and based on past rumours, the OnePlus Fold could just be an international version of the phone. If so, then expect it to have an 8-inch internal foldable screen with QHD+ resolution and a 6.5-inch external FHD+ screen, both with 80 Hz refresh rates.
Inside there will be a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 120 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. OnePlus Fold is expected to run Android 13 and OxygenOS 16 .1 On top of that, it’s a bit disappointing considering it was supposedly released around the same time that Google released Android 13 .
Anyway, rounded specs are 4,512 mAh battery, supports 80 W wired charging , one 26 MP main camera with OIS, one 26 MP ultrawide, one 26 MP periscope telephoto camera, and a pair of 26 MP self-timers, one for each screen.
