Hulu’s best show of 2021 (currently having a rare 100% on Rotten Tomatoes) isn’t a true crime documentary or even a true crime adaptation. Nope, Hulu’s biggest hit in 2021 is Only Murders in the Building, a comedy, somehow universally light-hearted, about three men in a luxury New York apartment building Residents set out to solve a murder. Starring Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez, the show is the perfect blend of escapism and intrigue to give TV solid comfort. In fact, it is the most watched comedy on a streaming service of all time, according to Vulture.
For Any need to remind where the show’s first season left off, Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short) and Mabel (Gomez) found one of their neighbors dead. Being true crime fans, the trio is banned from trying to solve the murder together, even though Mabel secretly knew the victim and kept him in touch with Charles and Oliver. In the end, Mabel’s past was exposed, and the three connected all the dots to discover that the murderer was Charles’ new girlfriend.
