Rumors started to swirl yesterday suggesting that Oppo and OnePlus are pulling out of key European markets, including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France.
A OnePlus representative was quick to deny the rumor, followed by Oppo, both of which released official statements about their company’s contribution to the European market.
OnePlus Global PR Manager James Patterson told Tech Advisor:
OnePlus will not exit Europe and the UK, and maintain stable operations in the local market. OnePlus will continue to invest in Europe and provide its users with more innovative products and solutions.
An Oppo spokesperson said via email that the company has big plans and is committed to all existing European markets.
We have successfully launched multiple European products in and have a series of upcoming products for the rest of the year . As always, Oppo will continue to provide users with more innovative products and first-class services.
The wording of this sentence is rather convoluted, as Oppo will only be talking about its plans for this year, rather than announcing its long-term commitment to Europe. Or maybe we’ve read too much into it – we should know the truth sooner rather than later.
OnePlus recently launched its OnePlus flagship, and it’s a well-rounded phone with little to complain about. The Oppo Find X6 Pro, which was announced last week with “three main cameras,” didn’t leave China, making the Find N2 Flip the only flagship Oppo smartphone in Europe.
