Oppo confirmed that its Shanghai-based chip subsidiary, Zeku, will be closing due to “uncertainties in the global economy and the smartphone industry”. The chip design company is responsible for the development of MariSilicon series chips, including MariSilicon X ISP and MariSilicon Y audio chips.
Oppo established a chip manufacturing business in 2019 to develop in-house co-processors, ISP, modem, power management and audio chips. Oppo is speculated to have invested over $1.4 billion in its chipset development business.
