The Kiwi will continue to work with Hyundai New Zealand in his hometown World Rally Championship, with the car also receiving more support from Repco.
The auto parts retailer is also a supporter of the naming rights for New Zealand’s first WRC race in a decade.
Paddon and longtime co-driver John Kennard are part of a 12-car WRC2 race that also includes supercar star Shane van Gisbergen and Australian rally champion Harry Bates.
“We’ve waited 10 years for Repco Rally New Zealand to come back and come here with our own car and our own team, and representing New Zealand is something we’re excited and proud of,” Paddon said.
“We are at the WRC2 level and expect to win. That’s what we’re here to do, but we’ve got some really tough competition and we’ve got to do a lot of good preparation. But we’ve got a lot going for each stage. Strong understanding so hopefully we can give it a good push.
“It’s a natural fit for Repco to be part of our Modern New Zealand programme. We really wanted to represent both brands on the podium.
“I think the WRC2 event is very strong with New Zealand and Australian competitors. You have Australian rally champion Harry Bates and then you throw past New Zealand champion Ben Hunt and supercar star Shane Van Gisbergen. It will be a good fight to be involved.”
The New Zealand Repco Rally will run from September 29 to October 2.
