Paul McCartney is getting the documentary treatment from Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville.
Neville helped break the news Saturday afternoon in Milk Studios is the host of Universal Music Group’s star-studded artist showcase Hosted by Chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge, the annual Grammy Weekend event typically features a rich musical program and some breaking news on Uni’s film projects featured. Today’s installment, showing for the first time in three years due to the pandemic, is no different from McCartney’s News, a feature documentary about Grammy winner Jon Baptiste, from Oscars and Emmys Nominated filmmaker Matthew Heineman and HBO’s spring release date Love Love You, Donna Summer .
McCartney project titled Man on the Run from MPL Communications (an umbrella company for McCartney Catney’s business interests) and Polygram Entertainment (UMG’s film and television division). According to official sources, the film will focus on McCartney’s life after the Beatles broke up and feature never-before-seen archival material and new interviews. The film begins as the rocker navigates the aftermath of his breakup, his life with his beloved wife Linda McCartney and the epic creative wave that followed.

“How do you rediscover yourself after joining the biggest band in the world? Well, no one ever had to answer that question until the Beatles broke up,” Anthony explained to the packed crowd inside Milk Studios. “Essentially, it’s a story about Linda and Paul’s enduring love, As he found his voice as an artist, he entered one of the most creative periods of his life.
Neville, a self-described “Beatles fanatic” and McCartney fan, says he’s read every book and seen every documentary about the band, But he found something new The Runaways . “I was too young to buy the Beatles records when they came out, But I can buy Wings records, and I love them. “We’re back,” Grainge said at the start of the show. “Can you believe it’s been a whole year since we last celebrated artists and new music in this room?” Has it been three years? We are all back. A lot has happened in the last three years, today the focus is on music. “
On stage (presented by Merz Aesthetics’ Xperience+ and Coke Studio) were Kim Petras, Sam Smith, Samara Joy, Glorilla, Stephen Sanchez, Lauren Spencer Smith, Feid, Muni Long and Doechi. Grainge reserved a surprising performance as they welcomed country icon Shania Twain to close out the show. The audience clearly enjoyed the show, giving many artists a standing ovation, a rarity for a sometimes dull label showcase.
