Penn Badgley Asks For Less Sex In 'You' Season 4: 'It Wasn't Really My Wish'

Netflix The series recently opened up on his podcast Podcrushed about wanting to film quitting a romantic role and intimacy as he wishes to remain faithful to his wife, Domino Kirke, to whom he is married 2017 .

“It was actually a decision I made before going on the show,” Badgley said. “I don’t think I’ve ever brought it up publicly, but one of the main things was, ‘Do I want to get myself back on the career path where I’ve always been the lead romantic?'”

He continued, “It’s really important to me… Fidelity in every relationship – especially my marriage – is very important to me, but there’s a point where I don’t want to The point of doing that. And then, of course, there’s the question before I get on the show, ‘If I didn’t, would I still have a career? I mean, you know, think of every male lead you’ve ever loved. Are they kissing someone? Are they doing more than that? It’s really not my wish.”

The Gossip Girl alum went on to explain that he told Gamble that in an ideal world, his wish would probably be for the show to not have any intimate scenes at all, but he understands that’s not a super reasonable request.

“I signed this contract,” he said. “I signed up for the show. I know what I did. You can’t take that aspect out of the DNA of the concept, so how much less you can make it is my question to them.”

The Youstar said the creator “didn’t bat an eye” when asking the question.

“She was really happy that I was being so honest and she was kind of, I would say almost empowered,” Bagley said. “Her response was overwhelmingly positive. She appreciated my straightforwardness as well as my reasonableness and pragmatism, and they came back with an amazing reduction.”

The love story of Season 4, Part 1 may take a backseat while the unfolding detective story of the first five episodes is now streaming on Netflix, but it’s here to stay. The object of Jo’s affections this season is Kate (Charlotte Ridge), who keeps Jo in trouble as he tries to figure out their dynamic and falls short.

“She’s the new shiny thing he can’t figure out. So, it’s not boring,” Badgley previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “And then, once he got to know her, what attracted him, at least according to him—Jo was the least reliable narrator, perhaps of all storytellers— He said he was attracted because she seemed to want to be good. She was surrounded by bad people and wanted to be good. He felt the same way. But, he said so. I don’t know if it’s true.”

After the first season premiered on Lifetime, you

started a new life when it was continued by Netflix. The show has been topping the streaming charts since then, and Gamble isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet.

“We have ideas for season five and we’re excited,” the show The host tells THR’s TV’s top 5 podcasts. “It was never intended to knock this guy to the ground. When we’re done, we’re done. We’re going to pack it up. Even in early conversations with Payne, the idea wasn’t to make episodes forever; it felt like We’ve told the full story.”

You Season 4, Part 1 is now on Streaming on Netflix, Part 2 will air March 9.
