'Perry Mason' Canceled After Two Seasons on HBO

The series starring Matthew Rhys was canceled after two seasons. The series is a remake of 2020 and 2020 classic courtroom shows s, produced by Robert Downey Jr.’s Downey Team.

“We would like to thank Matthew Rhys for his excellent work and Perry Mason thanks They reimagined such a cherished and storied franchise,” HBO said in a statement. “While we will not be releasing another season of the series, we are excited to continue working with the brilliant creative minds at Team Downey on future projects.”

Jack Amiel and Michael Begler (Knicks) serve as producers for Season 2, takes over from creators Ron Fitzgerald and Rolin Jones as he moves on to other projects. The second season premiered in March, about two and a half years after the first season ended, and linear ratings (which, to be fair, represent only a small fraction of the total HBO show audience) are down by more than 50 percent.

at 1930’s Los Angeles, follows Perry’s transformation from private eye to lawyer as he becomes inspired by Erle Stanley Gardner’s book and directed by Raymond Burr. The series will continue on HBO’s sibling streaming platform, Max.
