Pittsburgh Buccaneers earn No. 1 pick A former MLB draft lottery.
Pittsburgh received the No. 1 pick in the 2023 MLB Draft via baseball’s inaugural draft lottery Tuesday night.
The event, held during the Winter Conference in San Diego, gave all 18 non-playoff teams from last season a chance at the No. 1 pick.
This will be the sixth time Pittsburgh has selected the No. 1 overall. The last time the Buccaneers did so was in 2021, when they drafted receiver Henry Davis with the No. 1 pick. 16.5%. The Nationals, who have the worst record in MLB in 2022, got the second pick, while the A’s dropped to sixth.
The Detroit Tigers are in sixth per cent at [7.5], moving up three spots into the top three.
Two teams jumped into the top six, with the Texas Rangers going from seventh to fourth. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Twins made the biggest leap from No. 13 to No. 5. Minnesota has only a 1.7 percent chance of getting the No. 5 pick.
